A Mexico City Wedding with Heart, History, and One Unforgettable Party

Sydney and Nick’s Mexico City wedding was equal parts grand, personal, and wildly fun. Their weekend unfolded in the most stunning locations, from the historic Casino Español to the architectural beauty of General Prim, but what made it truly special was the energy they and their guests brought to every moment.

From Wedaways to the Wedding

We first met Sydney on a Wedaways shoot, where we were capturing destination wedding content for a luxury property in Cabo. Watters, the bridal label founded by her mother, Vatana Watters, provides gowns for these shoots, so Sydney was right in the middle of it all. From the first few minutes of chatting, we hit it off—she was effortlessly cool, vibrant, and full of energy. When she casually mentioned that she was already deep into wedding planning despite not having been proposed to yet, we had to know more.

Fast forward a few months, and the proposal finally happened. When Sydney and Nick reached out to us about filming their wedding, it was a huge honor. She’s been around so many wedding professionals through Wedaways, yet she chose us. Originally, they had their sights set on Italy, but after visiting Mexico City, they fell in love with its cosmopolitan vibe, rich history, and unbeatable energy. CDMX was the perfect place for them.

A Sunrise Session in the Heart of Mexico City

Knowing how playful Sydney and Nick’ are together, we didn’t want to limit their story to just the wedding day, where things can sometimes feel a bit more structured. So the morning before their wedding festivities began, we took them out at sunrise to explore the heart of Mexico City. The city was practically empty, giving us a rare chance to capture them in these iconic locations without the usual bustling crowds. It was a stark contrast to the packed streets later that afternoon. There was no way we could have gotten those intimate, cinematic moments any other time.

The Rehearsal Dinner at Casino Español

The next evening was their rehearsal dinner and welcome party at Casino Español, a historic venue with intricate architecture that made the perfect setting for their casino-themed night. Nick is a huge James Bond fan (as is Sydney’s mom, Vatana), so he took the lead on planning this event, and it couldn’t have been more fitting.

They started with a private rehearsal dinner, where instead of traditional toasts, their friends roasted them. It was a riot. Then, the party moved upstairs, where blackjack tables, roulette, and a full casino setup made for an unforgettable welcome party. It was the perfect way to get guests in the mood for the weekend ahead—celebratory, playful, and just a little bit decadent.

The Wedding at Prim

For the wedding day, Sydney chose Prim as their venue, and it was easy to see why. It’s grand, luxurious, and full of character, blending historic charm with an effortlessly cool aesthetic. The ceremony design was next-level, with florals completely transforming the staircase into a breathtaking backdrop. It felt straight out of a dream.

Cocktail hour took place on the terrace, where live music set the tone, and daylight streamed through the glass ceiling. It was one of those moments where everything just felt right—laughter, music, clinking glasses, and a golden glow over the city.

Then came the reception, where a live band kept the energy high all night long. The celebration didn’t stop there, though. The after-party moved back into the flipped ceremony space, which now had a full nightclub vibe. It was dark, moody, and electric, the perfect way to close out a weekend that was already unforgettable.

Reliving It All

Sydney and Nick’s wedding was everything a CDMX wedding should be—full of heart, history, and pure fun. We were honored to be part of it, capturing not just the beauty of their day but the essence of who they are together. Their story was also featured in VOGUE.

For anyone dreaming of a Mexico City wedding, this one proved that CDMX offers everything—elegance, culture, and an energy that makes it impossible not to fall in love. Just like Sydney and Nick did.
